Kleinritter
A downloadable game
This is an ashcan hack of Mausritter and v0.1.3 of the very early beginnings of my personal TTRPG project "Small Souls". Play as 3 to 6 inch tall anthropomorphic creatures going on grand adventures.
This is an ashcan release last updated as of the summer of 2025, which means it is unpolished, unfinished, and not intended to be returned to as is. I have significantly changed course in my design to the point of it no longer being a faithful and certainly not compatible hack of Mausritter. This ashcan version also pushes it on Mausritter compatibility, but it can work. Most of the text is copy of the Mausritter SRD with changes to this hack.
I used a Typst theme that mimicked DnD 5e because I lacked anything else on hand at the time. The theme is free to use here: https://typst.app/universe/package/wenyuan-campaign
Some notes on this hack
In the PDF, you'll see the section "Mausritter Compatibility Expectations" on page 1. I realized during play testing that this version is actually more lethal than typical Mausritter due to the 3 actions a turn. This means you can attack or be attacked 3 times in one turn, and so triples the potential damage of your Mausritter creatures. That's worth keeping in mind!
The movement of the creatures in this hack tends to be too fast because my research looked at record peak speeds regardless of their starting velocity. For example, the bat can fly incredibly fast, but it is taken from the bat in the Americas that achieves this speed probably due to sky diving and then leveling out for that horizontal velocity. It does reach these speeds though and has been recorded by airlines. So that's neat!
Those speeds also are not tuned for play, but the point was mostly to see what reality is like so we can use that as guidelines in our games anyways.
The relationship between Inventory & Movement was explored here. The less encumbered you are, the closer you are to your natural movement speed. Running also gives you speed benefits closer to the real life creature's top speeds
Each creature has its own natural ability inspired by their real life counterparts.
The Small Souls Project
If you're interested in a game that explores being of such a small stature or of other varying sizes, then you may be interested in my ongoing project, "Small Souls". Here's my relevant blog posts: https://errantthinking.com/tags/small-souls/
